Welcome to Mosaic of Minds
I’m a late-diagnosed twice exceptional person interested in how neurodivergent brains develop. I’m especially curious what talent and disability are, and what happens when they coexist.
I worked for 10 years as a cognitive neuroscientist, then trained as a speech/language therapist before becoming a writer. I combine this expertise in human development and research with personal experience to explain how neurodivergent people develop, think, and feel.
Why This Blog?
This will be part science blog, part personal essay and advocacy blog, with the balance TBD. Most posts will be medium to long.
I grew up lacking concepts to understand myself and language to understand myself. I had to find or invent them for myself. I aim to offer neurodivergent people what I wish I’d had, so they’ll feel less confused and alone.
I also have noticed countless misunderstandings between well-intentioned neurodivergent and neurotypical people. I want to demystify neurodivergence for everyone else, to help bridge that gap.
I also like to critically analyze research. I ask questions like
How do they know?
Do the conclusions fit the evidence?
Are they asking the right questions? What should they be asking?
Disclaimer: I can be slow to respond to comments, but I read and appreciate them all.
